Jade Falconer's The Perfect Gift

No one wants to be alone at Christmas time. For Jeffrey, being away from his family was hard but his walk home reminded him of those who had it so much worse. When he offers to buy a homeless man a cup of coffee, he doesn't realize just how much the stranger could change his life. Kicked out of the emergency room for having no insurance, the surprisingly eloquent stranger has no memory of his life before he was knocked unconscious in the park. Despite everyone's assumptions, he is neither drunk nor crazy. Will the random act of kindness turn into a Christmas miracle?

Christmas stories have to contain a large dose of schmaltz, itís like, the law. And Falconer is in little danger of being arrested for not delivering.

The character of Jeffrey was believable. His indecision whether to help the homeless man felt very real. He didnít have much to offer, but gladly shared what he did have.

The story moved along quickly, possibly a little too quickly, my suspension of disbelief was strained, but thankfully never broken. One night of loving allows Shane, the homeless guy, to remember everything. I was moved by how vulnerable Jeffrey became at Shane regaining his memories. He believed Shane would no longer need him. But of course he does, we couldnít have an unhappy ending; after all, itís Christmas.
